Miles 3
| Miles 3 | | Former models Miles I and Miles II are perhaps the best examples of classic Marten design. A speaker with outstanding musical performance at a reasonable price, especially considering the supreme quality of the units and components. Miles is the first choice of many true audiophiles, with the highest of demands of a speaker system. But why try to improve this world-class speaker? Simply put, we feel that it is our obligation to make improvements in the art of sound reproduction and virtuous musical performance. The new Miles 3 has a slim and graceful cabinet which is available in a variety of beautiful veneers and high gloss colours. Thus, Miles 3 fits easily into any modern environment. The changes in the shape also promote acoustic performance, whilst steel feet and down firing port emphasise the close relationship with the world famous Coltrane model. Combined with Duke Stand speaker, Ellington Bass unit and Alice Centre speaker, Miles 3 completes one of the finest surround sound systems available. Miles 3 has all the classic Marten qualities, elevated to a new level of beauty - both in appearance and virtuous musicality. |
Duke
| | Duke | | Duke Stand Loudspeaker is a two way design developed with a new ceramic bass/midrange unit with extreme performance. The perfect partner to this unit is the ceramic tweeter witch extends the frequency range up to 40 000 Hz. The Duke Stand Loudspeaker sonic performance is rich, smooth and pleasant but with no loss of fine details, resolution and dynamics. Duke goes down to 39 Hz and it is easy to place in the listening room with the attractive Duke Stands in black satin/anodized aluminium finish. Duke Stand Loudspeaker is available in Walnut, Cherry and Maple. The Duke Stand Loudspeaker is splendid of its own but if it combined with Ellington Bass Unit. |
Bird
| | Bird | | Bird is the latest, and greatest model that completes the Heritage series from Marten. The most recent development from Marten not only incorporates unique ceramic drivers, it also features a newly developed, custom-made 26mm diamond tweeter. Diamond is one of the most rigid materials known to man. There is virtually no resonance, and the new tweeters produce a pure uncoloured, distortion free sound. Bird employs ceramic membranes with the hardness of Sapphire. Ceramic membranes (Corundum) have extreme cone rigidity and hardness. The distortion free sound reproduction Bird produces is exceptionally detailed and transparent, with a large, attractive soundstage. Bird relationship with Marten reference series Coltrane is obvious, both in appearance and virtuous musicality. New developed, custom made, 26 mm diamond tweeter. Refined high quality crossover with components like copper foil and silver foil in oil capacitors. Bird can easily be integrated into your living environment, as they are not overly sensitive to placement. The double down-firing bass reflex port makes it possible to place it near to a back wall. Newly developed bass drivers with refined, increased air flow baskets, make the sonic performance more dynamic and less distorted. Newly developed midrange drivers, have resonance damping and laser-drilled holes in the ceramic cone. This simplifies the crossover and gets even lower distortion, in the important midrange frequency area. The new Bird cabinet is optimised, both in appearance and acoustic design. Non-parallel sides, heavy bracing and special selected 26mm MDF make it extremely resonance free. Bird is delivered in an exclusive piano lacquer finish, in either: Walnut, Cherry, Maple or Black. |

Marten Design's Coltrane Supreme is the ultimate reference in sound reproduction. | DESCRIPTION The Loudspeaker System: Coltrane Supreme from Marten Coltrane Supreme is with no doubt a high-end sensation. The system had its world premiere at CES 2006. Since its start in 1998, Marten has worked with the German manufacturer Accuton. For the former top-of-the-line model, the Coltrane, Marten used the diamond tweeter from Accuton, together with ceramic midrange and woofer drivers from the same producer and a cabinet made of carbon fibre laminate. Marten is now the first loudspeaker producer in the world to use Accuton's 5cm diamond midrange in the Coltrane Supreme. Each of the Supreme's two main speaker towers employs one diamond tweeter, one diamond midrange unit, one ceramic lower midrange unit and four woofers for the upper bass. The two bass towers employ six 9-inch woofers each, and a 2000W power amplifier. The cabinets are made of carbon fibre laminate and wood. The integral stands are made of polished stainless steel, and use cones and pucks from Black Diamond Racing. Coltrane Supreme: the world's first loudspeaker with 50mm diamond midrange Coltrane Supreme is the final challenge for Marten's chief designer, Leif Mårten Olofsson. After the success of the Coltrane model (Product of the Year Award 2004 in the Discovery category from the British high-end magazine Hifi+ and Class-A-rated in the U.S. magazine Stereophile), he felt it was time to take his design efforts to the highest level, to compete with the world's finest loudspeakers. The Coltrane Supreme is a four-cabinet system, consisting of two main loudspeakers and two dedicated subwoofers. The cabinets are made of extremely rigid, light, and stiff carbon fibre laminate with a Kevlar honeycomb in between. The main loudspeakers have a frequency range from 100 to 100,000 Hz. The crossover is a fully balanced, active, fourth-order design, with digital room correction possibilities below 100 Hz. The subwoofers have a frequency range from 15 to 100 Hz. Each main speaker tower employs four 7-inch ceramic upper bass units, one newly developed 7-inch ceramic lower-midrange unit, the world's first 2-inch diamond midrange, and one 3/4-inch diamond tweeter. Each subwoofer employs six newly-developed 9-inch, long-throw ceramic bass units with extreme low bass capabilities. All drivers employ neodymium under-hung magnet systems. | |
Coltrane
| | Coltrane | | Coltrane's unique cabinet is made of extremely rigid and stiff carbon fiber laminate. The box is one of the most sophisticated constructions ever to be undertaken in the field of high-end loudspeakers. Coltrane employs a unique tweeter driver with a membrane made of pure diamond. The first resonance is at 100kHz - distortion is hardly measurable. The bass and midrange drivers have extremely stiff ceramic membranes. They have no resonances at all in their working areas. The frequency range of Coltrane is 20 Hz - 100,000 Hz within /- 2 dB. Bybee Quantum purifiers coupled to each driver eliminate high-frequency distortion, lower the noise level, and enhance the dynamics. Coltrane's crossover has been designed for high performance and transfer of signal to the drivers with minimal loss. It is one of the most sophisticated designs on the world market today. The series coil to the bass drivers is custom made, with a Teflon core that alone weighs 8 kg. The crossover allows bi-amping as well as bi-wiring. Coltrane in the listening environment Loudspeakers should not only sound good but be easy on the eyes. They should be an addition, not a subtraction, to the living environment. This require perfect design and the highest-quality materials. Coltrane comes in four standard finishes (Walnut, Maple, Cherry, or Oak), combined with high-gloss black (other finishes and colors are available as options). Thanks to the elegance of the design of Coltrane, the speakers look smaller than they really are. Coltrane can be easily integrated into a living environment, as they are not overly sensitive to placement. Bass adjustment of /- 1.5 dB allows the Coltrane to be easily adjusted to the listening room. Coltrane performs very well in rooms as small as 17 square meters (156 square feet), up to very large rooms. |
